The Fair Justice Initiative, The Fair Justice Initiative, in partnership with the esteemed Institutions, embarks on projects that aid inmates reintegrate into the society.  An art project aimed at nurturing creative expression within the prison has yielded remarkable outcomes.

Likewise, our mental health programs which have been instrumental in supporting inmates in coping with the challenges of incarceration. Through this program and projects, we have witnessed significant positive changes in their well-being and resilience.

In improving the conditions of prisons, FJI supports the people of the Nsawam Medium Security Prison with a farm to cultivate vegetables and other food items. The ratio rate by which prisoners are being fed in Ghana is GHC 1.80pesewas per prisoner, this initiative is to assist with feeding of the inmates in Nsawam Medium Security (

Every year, the FJI conducts a few legal clinics at selected prisons within the country. These legal clinics are conducted by a team of lawyers and volunteers with the aim of interviewing inmates in need of legal representation. The gates of the FJI are opened to volunteers from all parts of the world and in the past the FJI has received volunteers from the Ghana School of Law, Fidelity Bank Ghana among others. Following these clinics, FJI undertakes the rigorous process of vetting the inmates who participate in the legal clinics to select the cases that FJI would subsequently pursue, pro bono. Through these clinics, FJI has been able to provide inmates with competent legal representation and advice.

An appreciable number of inmates have been granted bail after over 5-10 years of being on remand without trial. Also, several plea negotiations and consequent agreements have been entered into on behalf of some remand inmates. Convicted inmates, through our skilled lawyers, have had their sentences reduced or convictions overturned. These legal clinics are undoubtedly the answered prayers of many inmates who would have otherwise languished in prison with lost hopes. As such, it is a worthwhile pursuit and worth participating in.
